Public Works

The St. Stephen Water Department was established in 1906 the same year that water was first piped to Town from the water source at Maxewll Crossing located five miles north east of St.Stephen.

The wells at Maxwell Crossing supply water to the Town of St. Stephen with a population
of 5000.

In 1996, the Water Department and the Streets Department were joined to create The Department of Public Works.

The Department of Public Works maintain streets and sidewalks, sewer and water mains, two sewage treatment plants, two water reservoirs, and the pumping station and wells at Maxwell Crossing.
