Land & Sea
Of course, when you go on vacation, you could just kick off your shoes and snooze your break away, but more people are finding that one of the best ways to shed the cares of the workaday world is to turn their energy in a different direction. To that end, St. Stephen offers all manner of activities for all manner of people; truly something for everyone on land and water.
St. Stephen has a wide range of trails and paths for both the avid hiker and the casual walker, located behind the downtown core. The trails offer scenic wooded areas, creeks, rustic wooden bridges, picnic shelters, and kilometres of unspoiled natural beauty. There is plenty of wildlife in the area to enjoy during your jog, hike or quiet walk along these enchanting trails.
The Ganong Nature Park at Todd's Point www.scep.org/naturepark has a variety of habitats within its 330 acres of intertidal lands, fields, and woodlands.
For both the novice and experienced cyclist, opportunities abound along the coastal route and our secondary roads with miles of scenic trails that lace through Charlotte County. Bike beside pristine beaches and rugged seacoasts and you might even begin to feel like a kid again, when the bike was your only vehicle and you could peddle forever.
On the water, paddle a canoe or kayak either on your own or in the company of guides and explore the Passamaquoddy Bay’s fascinating coastline, or relive the days of the voyageurs and paddle up the historic St. Croix River. Whichever way you choose, you will enjoy the scenic beauty that this area has to offer. Whale watching tours also show Passamaquoddy Bay at its intriguing best.
